The Modern Prometheus

Here's a Reaper Flesh Golem I recently finished, and as we all know, the Flesh Golems we've become familiar with thanks to decades of fantasy RPGs are literary descendants of the original creation of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, so you'll forgive me for going with that reference instead of the Monster Manual.  I gave him a snowy base to represent the alpine setting of much of the novel, as well as to make him suitable for use in Frostgrave.

  1. Great work Bill. He'll look super in "Frostgrave" and looks a lot more intimidating than the official figure imho. I especially like the work you've done around his stitches.

    1. Thanks! The stitchwork was easy - I use Reaper paints, which go by the same tri-color system that Foundry uses, where for every color they also offer a highlight version and a shade version. I basecoated in the shade town, did two layers of highlights, then washed the stitches with a dark red before reapplying the highest layer of the highlight. Then I picked out the sutures in "blackened steel" since they look less like stitches and more like big hospital staples to me.

    2. Well it looks cracking, Bill, and its certainly got me ordering one for myself. I'll link my posting to yours (as my source of inspiration) when it arrives and I've painted mine up :-)

    3. Did you get the Bones version or the original metal version? There's a couple spots on the Bones one (at least the example I got) where the detail is a little soft - there's a rent in one of his pants legs that I absolutely did not notice until the second layer of highlighting on the pants.

    4. Bones version - wouldn't be the first time I've missed ripped trousers either. My "Heroclix" Hulks are good examples of that :-)
